Just ordered at sonystyle.co.uk: Sony GPS-CS1. So looking forward to this little device. It records your GPS position automatically every 15 seconds and stores it in memory. You can then just plug it into your computer and sync the positions with the images you took. Et voila: you end up with perfectly tagged images, that you can view on a (world-)map.
Oh by the way, even though Sony officially only claims it's compatible with CyberShot and other Sony cameras, I can assure you that it's actually compatible with any camera / JPEG files in general. When you plug in the device, you can simply mount it as a disc. You'll find proper NMEA GPS logs which you can import in most GPS mapping software.
Short specs:
- Runs on standard AA batteries (14h per battery).
- Capacity for aprox. 86.400 (360h) position records.
- Stores one record every 15 seconds.

Found a nice site today, which generates charts of cameras that are currently being used by flickr.com users. It samples between 1% and 2% percent of flickr's daily uploads (about 10.000 images per day) and analyzes their EXIF metadata. Certainly not 100% accurate, but statistically it should be rather close to the real data.
Interesting.

"I am a 72-year-old war pensioner and I have two problems. I wonder if you can help with either of them. Although my grandchildren have told me that getting an email account is “a must” in this day and age, I am put off by a fear of all this “spam” I hear about. I am sketchy on the details, but apparently it is quite like “junk mail” but sent via an Internet computer.
My second problem is quite unrelated to the Internet, but has been preying on my mind for some time now. Put simply, I am desperate to gain access to penis-enlargement pills, unsecured loans and retired government officials from Nigeria who wish me to go to their homeland to recover large sums of cash from unspecified vaults. Please help."

Not many people in the world will understand this blog-entry. So if you're not one of them, I'm really sorry. Keep walking. Nothing to see here, really.
For the others: enjoy.

Hurra! Ein spontanes Dankesgedicht:
So ne Schweppes dann und wann,
Ach die macht mich richtig an.
Man drehe am Verschluss - ein zisch
Nein wie klingt das frisch.
Wie war ich heute noch gefrustet
Und beinah schon knapp verdurstet!
Drum dank wem dank gebuehrt:
Christopher, der liess sie fuer mich unberuehrt.

Wow, this year's Indy GrandPrix is even more thrilling than all the other races before it even started. Exploding tires ain't funny, but building a chicanery to slow down those, who could go faster, would be unfair, too. If you feel unsafe, then just advise your drivers to drive slower.
Anyways, here's my TV setup for this evening:

Talking about the weather, of course. 30 centidegrees and more recently. Which is good on the one side: I love the summer, the sun, being outside... almost everything.
Besides:
- Being in the tube sucks. It's incredibly hot down there and all the sweating people don't look that happy.
- Carrying a backpack wil leave funny sweat-marks on your shirt.
- Sitting in the office, praying for some fresh air.
In other news: I've been to the Hyde Park yesterday! Uploaded some new photos here. Afterwards I went to the Nike Town at Oxford Circus and left the store with four new shirts (which I desperately needed due to the sweat-marks I mentioned before *g*). Now if I only had have some new sunglasses, which I then wouldn't lose two weeks later. That'd rock
Enjoy the summer!
Cheers,

„Ich bin nicht gut in Mathe, und auch manche andere Fächer liegen mir in der Schule nicht. Deshalb wollte ich berühmt werden."
Ja, das scheinen in der Tat die Grundvoraussetzungen zu sein, um beruehmt zu werden. Die kleine dumme Schlampe muesste dann bitte nur noch hier unterschreiben. Danke.

Ok, today the weirdest thing ever happened to me. I was walking down the Brick Lane with some friends, trying to grab some food. Suddenly we were surrounded by people with brandnew Philips TVs, DVD players and DVB receivers in their hands. Not 10 people, not 20, but hundreds of them. Pretty much everyone walking down the street had one of these big Philips boxes carrying around.
We looked at each other, wondering what was going on and just asked one of the guys who got such a TV. As it turned out it was a big promotion event by Philips and BigBrother and they were giving away 1000 (in words: one-thousand) TV sets for free. Lucky as we are, we were just seconds too late to get one ourselves. Damn it.
Well, whatever - at least the food was nice and we were laughing all the time, thinking about this weird happening. Looking forward to see all the boxes on ebay.co.uk, now

Once you're leaving Germany and living somewhere else, esp. in some metropolis, you start noticing all the weird things and stereotypes about living in some smaller german city.
Today is sunday, but I totally don't feel like sunday. Usually the word sunday comes along with sadness, boredom and bellyache (mostly due to the fact, that you were drinking on saturday). Streets are empty, stores are closed and people act weird. Well, that has changed now. I strolled down Whitechapel Road this morning, looking for some breakfast and just couldn't believe it's really sunday. All the stores were open, people were in a holiday-mood and the world seemed sunny & beautiful. For some reason I ended up having my breakfast in a BurgerKing - I guess some things never change.
The size of London. It's almost 30 times bigger than the city I come from. A third of London is parks and greens. Which renders Augsburg to a size of 1/10 of London's parks. You really do notice this, when you're entering Hyde Park, surrounded by skyscrapers on the one and Buckingham Palace on the other side - in the middle of the city. It's beautiful there: Lots of green, people are tanning, talking, listening to music, playing soccer or go skating. Heck, there's even a little sea in this park... but it takes ages to walk through it. Better be prepared
Great news: It is possible to have public transports working 24/7. Not all of them, of course. But there's always a way to get home. Anytime. Then again, it can always happen that a tube station is suddenly closed down for construction work over the weekend. Which is probably okay, if you keep in mind that 2.7 million passengers are transported daily with the London Underground tube only. Operating and administrating the tube lines costs 250.000 Pounds (370.000 Euros) per day.
Two London myths: 1. No, it doesn't rain all the time. Infact it seems to rain less than in Germany. 2. Yes, there are quite a few clubs and pubs where you can get drinks and beer past eleven.
Cheers,
Muesli
