You know, I don't use Windows very often. But even then it manages to annoy the hell out of me.

Using Linux I recently switched my mouse to a Logitech MX1000. I just plugged it in and it instantly worked. Now I just booted up Windows and my cursor refused to work. In sheer desperation I ended up deleting the Logitech software (even though it is a Logitech mouse)... and guess what: the very moment the software was removed, my mouse cursor moved again. What the ****?!

Another thing I noticed during my ten minutes without a mouse: you can't close the Windows Help & Support window with Alt+F4. It would just ask you if you wan't to assign a new shortcut. Actually, the only way to close it is using the mouse. Ridiculous.

yeah, windows will do that to you. frustrates the hell out you, sometimes. one of the many reasons i gave up on windows 4 or 5 years ago. i've been so much happier with linux and freebsd.

Ever heared of the shortcut Alt+Space???
I don't like it, if you say windows is a f*** operating system. I'm pretty sure that you can't setup a complete Linux system within 60 minutes when you install it from cd or dvd. And setup means install AND setup.
Anyway be happy with your Linux.

alt+space? well so much for consistency then.

thing is: i never even managed to setup windows in 60 minutes so far. installing linux in 60 minutes can be done even by you. insert knoppix live-cd. boot. run installer. the copy process takes less than 30 minutes usually and the hardware detection was even done already, before you saw the login screen and ran the installer. since the initial boot up usually takes around 3 to 5 minutes
that would sum up to 33 or 35 minutes in total.

admittedly, it's not exactly a fair comparison. knoppix even installs an office package, which windows doesn't.

Right then mate. So the reason you are angry with windows was because of other software?

What would have happened if you bought a mighty mouse and that didnt work on windows?

The reason your mouse didnt work was to do with the LOGITECH software. Im really sick of people dissing microsoft. Im not their biggest fan, but i hear it all the time "Oh i got a blue screen of death last night,crappy system". Then you ask them what they were doing and they say "well i was trying to run porn.exe"

Windows doesn't just screw you over, its the software used it with it that does.
