Red Dot by Uga is really cute A bit more futuristic than my old one, although I need some time to get used to it. Good news for KDE users: 3.2 will offer an integrated mouse theme manager. It's really easy to change the themes in KControl, just paste the url of a valid theme archive and it'll do the rest like uncompressing and installing for you. Works great ...muesli

I reflected half the evening about the question. What's the reason for living, what's the goal of it? I noticed two things of general importance (in my eyes, I'm not talking bout anyone other): Having more answers than questions could be a nice goal. Of course, there will be always more questions around. It's just a matter of definition. Not everything bothers you. Find the right answers in the right areas. After some research on the Net, I found a nice statement by a Doctor. He mentioned, that the reason for most suicide-endangered people to not commit suicide are their relatives. The pain of death would be much greater for them than the pain of living for the "suicidos". Interesting explanation in my eyes. So most probably a goal of life is living for the people around you? Got to think about that again...

... was a lazy one. I'm glad it was. On Friday, Andz was coming over and we played xBox FIFA pretty much the whole evening (like so often *g*). Some beer and music - the night got late. Later, we tried NBA Jam, which turned out to be fun. The graphics are not as shiny as NBA Street Vol. 2, the defensive sucks and sometimes you feel like you lost control of your players. But the HotSpot thinggy makes it up for all these points. When you got full power (like the Game-Breaker in EA's games), there's a magic spot somewhere on the playground. If you're going to shoot the ball exactly from this point, the player will do some funky-a** dunking. Actually, HotSpots are the only reason I'm playing this game
On Saturday, I went to Vera's and Katze's party, celebrating their move-in into the new apartment. Some fun, nice people you know for years, drinks and good food. Anyways, I got home early, since I didn't want to get drunk this evening.
Today, we had a nice surprise waiting for us. I'm sorry, I'm not able to tell you right here, but just ask me, if you're feeling that you're the person, I would tell
Have a nice week, good luck fighting the Monday!

Quoting Joel:
Many of my days go like this: (1) get into work (2) check email, read the web, etc. (3) decide that I might as well have lunch before getting to work (4) get back from lunch (5) check email, read the web, etc. (6) finally decide that I've got to get started (7) check email, read the web, etc. (8 ) decide again that I really have to get started (9) launch the damn editor and (10) write code nonstop until I don't realize that it's already 7:30 pm.
Sometimes, you know those days. It's hard to get the "kick-off". Just for the archives Found on Joel's Blog.

Praise god, GCC 3.3.2 is released! This hopefully fixes a lot of KDE problems, since the latest Debian binaries of GCC had too many bugs, causing KDE to freeze and Konqueror to break.
Mark Mitchell, the GCC Release Manager, says:
"I do not anticipate any further GCC 3.3.x releases; the next GCC release will be GCC 3.4, which will contain a number of new features such as pre-compiled headers, a new C++ parser, and improved optimizations. It's difficult to predict a release date for GCC 3.4, but my current best guess is March 1st, 2004. It's possible that there will be a GCC 3.3.3, if the GCC 3.4 schedule slips significantly."
The complete list of bug-fixes is here.

Spooks' new album is out for some weeks now. Little did I know, they improved quite a bit! In my eyes, they even lost their last touch of pop & mainstream. This is meant as a compliment, of course. Although, the whole CD is worth listening, there is one song which I'm addicted to: "Hell No". I'm in love with the chorus
Other favourites of mine: Misery, More To Learn

Slow grooves, just a few beats. Another great cd full of german lyrics, which kept me thinking about my life. "Manfred Mustermann" is probably the most impressive song on this album. It's a long song telling the whole story of a man's life.
Along some hiphop tracks, featuring Smudo and Manuva. Great piece of music, don't miss it!

http://www.costofwar.com displays nice statistics regarding the war in the Iraq. First of all, it's a normal counter, showing how many $'s were spent. But there's a nice extra: Compare how many house units could have been built, how many children could have get health care etc. for that amount of money.
Example?
24,383,226 additional children could be provided with a year of health care
Disappointing.
Update: Eisbaer reported this article, posted on spiegel.de. (in German)
This is even more shocking.

German HipHop is back!
Their (formerly known as "Absolute Beginner") last album "Blast Action Heroes" is one of the german hiphop releases of all times. It's inventing, fresh, a completely new style of sound. Most probably, either you like it or hate it.
Songs to listen to: "Faeule", "Wer bist'n du?"

This is one hell of a racing game
Actually, it's not racing, it's rallying - and that's what Colin McRae is famous for. It seems to be a very experienced (indeed, it is: version no. 4), well-balanced piece of software. Beginners will learn to handle the car very quickly and experts will have fun cutting the edges and finding the best way on the track for weeks.
For those, who know the rally part of Gran Turismo 3: It feels like that, just polished and kinda "on-steroid".
Gone for some laps,

German soldiers are now forced to pay up to 95 Euros per month for their accommodation (tents for six people) while being in war. Don't believe it? I didn't.
Here's the proof. (German only, sorry)

Andz and I bought some blank CDs @ www.cdrohlinge24.de.
First of all, the order worked out very well, our blanks received two days after the payment succeeded. The best thing about it: It's the first distributor selling really blank CDs. This means, they are silver on both sides, looking like a real CD. Just too great. Plus: You can't beat those prices. They're selling blank CDs with cases for half the price of a normal-one without a case.
Go there!

Great news for the KDE/Debian fans!
Orth released a new package set this afternoon, and everything seems to turns to normal again
Konqueror is rendering fine, no hangups, no stuttering. It even feels a bit faster.
